To a successful 2025

On behalf of everyone at Zwitserleven, Zwitserleven PPI, Reaal, and Athora Netherlands, I wish you and your loved ones a healthy, bright, and happy 2025. I want to personally thank you for the pleasant collaboration and hope that we can continue this for a long time. If this year is as successful as the last, we have a lot to look forward to. We also have grand plans for 2025, more on that later.

For now, I would like to look back at 2024, which was an important year for us. With some wonderful results that we can all be proud of. I have highlighted a few. Once again, many thanks and I look forward to our collaboration and another beautiful and wonderful new year! With many successes that we share together. That is also the Zwitserleven feeling.

Launch of new brand campaign

At the beginning of 2024, we unveiled the new brand story of Zwitserleven, centered around the idea: the Zwitserleven feeling grows when you share it. It's not just about the pensioner, but also about the people around them. We see pensioners enjoying fun activities with family and friends. Because a good pension is 'a feeling we share'.

Healthy solvency

Athora Netherlands, the parent company of Zwitserleven and Reaal, once again reported impressive half-year figures. We show solid growth, especially compared to 2023. For instance, the Operating Capital Generation (OCG) increased from €193 million to €230 million, partly due to repositioning towards higher-yield investments.

Strong investment returns

2024 was a good year overall. Our investments achieved healthy returns, boosting the operating profit to €312 million, largely driven by higher investment returns. The investments in our defined contribution products also showed strong returns, helped by good equity results. For example, HorizonBeleggen achieved an 18.8% return in 2024 for participants more than 12 years from retirement.

New business is booming!

We were also active in new business. Many new clients chose the Zwitserleven feeling, including some large organizations. Additionally, the first pension funds like Yara and Pensura opted for Zwitserleven's innovative buy-out solutions. As a result, the buy-out team secured €450 million in new inflows.

How our existing clients view us

Various methods are used to assess how pension providers perform among employers, advisers, and participants. The latest employer survey shows that satisfaction with Zwitserleven among employers has increased, with nearly 70% of respondents giving us a score of 8 or higher. You can read more about this in this NieuwZ.

Additionally, the Zwitserleven PPI product NuPensioen, along with NN's Personal Pension Plan, received the highest score of five stars in MoneyView's ProductRating. Various pension advisory firms were asked to evaluate products based on acceptance criteria, premium options, (online) communication options, survivor coverage, disability coverage, investment options, and (incidental) costs. These are precisely the areas we work hard on every day at Zwitserleven. We will share the full MoneyView ProductRating with you at a later date.

Partnership with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

This year, Zwitserleven became a partner of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Enjoying music together aligns perfectly with our positioning: the feeling we share. Beautiful moments are more valuable when you can share them with family, friends, and loved ones. We are incredibly proud of this partnership. Through our brand Zwitserleven, Athora Netherlands enables the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra to create and share even more valuable memories with our clients, such as those building their pensions or already enjoying their retirement, advisers, employers, pension funds, and national and international partners.

Social commitment

We also take our responsibility when it comes to social commitment. The specially established Athora Future Fund was able to support three organizations with donations this year: Stichting Leergeld, Tommy Tomato, and De Joop. We are also looking for social organizations that could use our support for 2025.

Unforgettable Christmas

Furthermore, our Christmas campaign raised €1500 for the IJmuiden food bank, allowing them to provide a beautiful Christmas for 130 underprivileged families. On December 12, 2024, 30 colleagues gave Amsterdam seniors an unforgettable Christmas. They were pampered with a hand massage or beautiful nail polish and enjoyed pancakes, snacks, and delicious soup.

Warm regards,

Annemieke Visser-Brons

Member of the Executive Committee Athora Netherlands
