“I have worked at a law firm for almost my entire life. I had been looking forward to retirement for several years. So, in the end, after talking to my employer, I decided to start reducing my hours 2 years before my retirement age. Not really stopping earlier, but working part-time. My pension is high enough to make such a decision. And I want to make the most of that extra free time. Especially doing, seeing, and experiencing a lot.”
"After my studies, I worked briefly at another law firm a few times. Apparently, I was building up a small pension there. When my pension provider offered to commute the small pension, I immediately accepted. Together with my adviser, I then carefully considered what I need later. I am thinking of opting for 100% variable. My partner has a good pension. So we could take some risk with mine. A temporary higher pension is not necessary for me. We have enough to get by.
Together with my partner, I made a plan for our future. And we choose not to arrange a partner's pension. We trust that we should be able to manage financially without each other. I know I can shop around with my pension, but the differences are so small that I choose familiarity. I am already with Zwitserleven, so I plan to stay there. Especially for the good terms. Furthermore, I want to enjoy my free time as much as possible: outings, going to the theater, performances with my niece. I'm really looking forward to that."
A temporary higher pension is not necessary. Her expected pension is high enough, and so is her partner's.
Thea opts for 100% variable. She is willing to take the risk of a lower pension income. Also because her partner has a good pension.
After talks with her partner, she decides not to take a partner's pension.
Thea has the right to shop around, but opts for the better terms at Zwitserleven.
